Topics covered include: ISPS Code (leading to Ship Security Officer status), screening techniques, safety on board training and other key elements of training required to enter the maritime security sector. The Company provides this training directly to the employees of a number of large multi-national corporations, who specifically asked Eos to design the programme.
Ship Security Officer (SSO) training courses – a requirement for all personnel acting, or seeking to act, as a Ship Security Officer on vessels over 500 tonnes engaged in international transits. SSO accreditation was laid down in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) as a requirement for all people acting in this capacity. The course leads to accreditation to SSO status (approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency – MCA) an internationally recognised qualification, which greatly aids employment in this sector.
Duration 3 – 4 days.
Company Security Officer (CSO) training course – this course was laid down as a requirement for all personnel acting as a Company Security Officer in maritime organisations operating vessels that engage in international transits and which fall under the auspices of the ISPS Code. Going above and beyond the requirements of the SSO course, this course is a definite requirement for personnel seeking to move up the ladder of maritime security. Duration 3 – 4 days.
Screening Course – the Eos screening course was produced as a direct result of requirements from some of its largest clients. The course covers all elements of screening as required by the US Maritime Transport Security Act (MTSA) and the ISPS Code, as well as covering all major makes and models of X-ray screening machines (handheld and fixed). Courses can even be taken remotely whilst at sea. Duration 10hrs.
