At least 30 people have been injured, after police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse hundreds of protesting students from the Medical Assistant Training School, who attempted to march to the Prime Minister’s office to demand government jobs and placements in higher education institutions. The authorities detained an unconfirmed number of students at the rally.
Those operating or residing in Dhaka are advised to anticipate further demonstrations of a similar nature. Avoid all large gatherings of crowds due to the threat of protest-related violence and incidental detention by the security forces.
