Cameroon: Road Traffic Accident Underscores Dangerous Driving Conditions
On 1 July, at least 7 people were killed after two cars collided on the outskirts of Cameroon’s capital Yaoundé on a road linking to Douala. One police officer said, “The driver of a bus was on high speed and lost control of the vehicle and collided face to face with another car. The seven people died on the spot and others were injured seriously. They have been transported to hospital. The death toll might increase."
Deadly road accidents are common in Cameroon often due to poor road conditions, reckless driving and overloading. Where overland travel is necessary, consider booking luxury and reputable services or hiring an experienced driver.
