A thirteen-year-old girl has been killed and thirteen others injured, after a 31-year-old man deliberately drove his car into a French Pizzeria in a town east of Paris. The driver, who is believed to have been under the influence of drugs, was immediately arrested. The attack was the latest in France and elsewhere where a vehicle has been used as a weapon. However, a local prosecutor has said that the man's actions in the town of Sept-Sorts were clearly deliberate, but not "terrorism-related".
Those operating or residing in France are advised to be aware of the serious threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism in the country. France has been the target of numerous Islamic extremist attacks in the past years and the country is on high alert. Although the attack is not believed to have been terror-related, France has witnessed a series of vehicle-ramming attacks in recent months, with Islamic State actively encouraging them. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities and remain vigilant.
