Gabon/Cameroon: Gabon Closes Land Border with Cameroon Following Attempted Coup
Following a failed military coup attempt on 7 January, Gabon has closed its land border with Cameroon, halting the flow of trade. Local media has reported that dozens of trucks loaded with plantain, cocoyam, groundnuts and other vegetables are stranded, along with several hundred commuters, in the town of Kiossi on Cameroon’s southern border with Gabon. Handerson Quetong Konge, the highest-ranking Cameroonian official along the border with Gabon, said that they have been discussing re-opening the border with Gabonese authorities in the town of Bitam, just across the border. Plan your travel accordingly during this time.
