Ghana: Deadly Inter-Communal Clashes in Accra
Two killed in inter-communal clashes in Accra
At least two people have been killed, with three others seriously injured and five more arrested, during violent inter-communal clashes sparked by a confrontation between members of the Dagomba and Konkomba communities in the market area of Accra’s Agbogbloshie suburb. Security forces were dispatched to the area to restore order. It is likely there will be a continued heightened security presence in the near-term.
Anticipate heightened security in the Agbogbloshie area over the next few days. Seek shelter at the first signs of unrest and escalating tensions and follow all emergency directives issued by local authorities. Remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
