Haiti: At Least One Killed in Anti-Government Protests
On 9 June, thousands of people staged anti-government protests in Port-au-Prince to demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse. Protests were reported in Delmas, Bel Air and Champs de Mars near the National Palace, where demonstrators erected roadblocks and set fires in the streets. Police fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators near the National Palace and at least one person was killed from a gunshot wound. An increased security presence and disruptions from the protests are expected to continue. Further anti-government and anti-corruptions protests are possible in the coming days and weeks. Avoid all large gatherings of crowds and plan your travel accordingly.
