Police have fired teargas to disperse dozens of stone-throwing pro-separatist demonstrators, during anti-government protests in the Janglat Mandi and Achajipora areas of Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir State. Similar clashes have been reported across Srinagar and Sopore. At least 12 people have been injured in the fighting.
Those operating or residing in India are advised to anticipate heightened security at anti-government protests. For travel to Jammu and Kashmir state, register your itineraries and avoid concentrations of security personnel. Avoid all large gatherings of people due to the credible threat of protest-related violence and leave the vicinity if tensions begun to escalate.
