Indonesia: Mass Prison Break Triggers Search Operations in Riau Province
400 security personnel deployed to Pekanbaru City after 200 prisoners escape
At least 200 prisoners have reportedly escaped from the Sialang Bunkuk Detention Centre on Jalan Sialang Bungkuk road on the eastern outskirt of Pekanbaru City in Riau province. Some 400 security personnel have been deployed to the area in order to search for the escapees. Security operations are likely to continue until all the prisoners have been caught and detained.
Those operating or residing in Pekanbaru City are advised to be aware of a mass prison break of at least 200 prisons. Expect heightened security in the city whilst operations are ongoing. Track local media for updates, remain vigilant and comply with all directives issued by law enforcements.
