Iran: Iran Reports H5N1 Bird Flu Outbreak in Northern Parts of the Country

10 birds killed by highly contagious H5N1 bird flu strain

Citing a report from the Iranian agricultural ministry, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has said that Iran has reported an outbreak of the H5N1 bird flu virus in the northern parts of the country. The strain of bird flu is highly contagious. The outbreak is said to have killed 10 birds of 230 on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Last year, Iran reported outbreaks of a similar highly contagious strain of bird fly, the H5N8.

Those who plan to travel to or within Iran are advised to be aware of the latest outbreak of the H5N1 strain of bird flu. Follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor the developments of the OIE.
