Israel: Hamas Calls on Gazans to Confront Israeli Forces Along the Border
Tensions heighten between Israel, Palestine and Gaza
The leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyah, has called on residents of Gaza to confront Israeli soldiers stationed along the Israel-Gaza border on 21 July, to protest against the heightened security measures at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. In the past, Israeli forces have used live ammunition against any individuals who approach the border.
In addition, the leaders of the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem have announced that all mosques will be closed across Jerusalem on 21 July, to encourage worshippers to attend Friday prayers at the gates of the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount, to further protest against new Israeli security measures, which were made following days of protests which were triggered by a shooting incident on 14 July, in which two policemen were killed.
Those operating or residing in Israel are advised to be aware of the ongoing threat that the country faces from a number of different enemies. Members of both Islamic State and the terrorist group Hamas continuously seek to cause direct harm to Israeli citizens and infrastructure. Follow the advice of the Israeli security forces and remain alert for siren warnings. Avoid all travel within proximity to the Israel-Gaza border.
