A spokesman for Fatah, a Palestinian nationalist political party, has called for a ‘Day of Rage’, to protest against the decision made by Israeli authorities to place metal detectors at entrances to Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. The decision was made following days of protests which were triggered by a shooting incident in which two policemen were killed on 14 July.
Those operating or residing in West Bank are advised to anticipate heightened security across the Old City and East Jerusalem. Demonstrations are likely to take place in Nablus, Salfit, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Hebron and Israeli settlements. Avoid all protests on an ongoing basis due to the credible risk of violence and injury. Continue to avoid concentrations of security forces as they are often the target of attacks.
