Italy: Police Arrest Moroccan National in Counter-Terror Raid in Turin
One suspected terrorist arrested in Turin
On 24 April, a Moroccan national was arrested on suspicion of being involved in terrorist activity, during a counter-terror raid launched by police and Special Operations Group officers in Turin. The suspect had reportedly attempted to recruit accomplices online, although it is not yet known if he was a member or affiliate of Islamic State (IS).
Those who plan to travel to or within Italy are advised to be aware of the latest arrest of a suspected terrorist. Whilst the arrest does not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant and to be aware of the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism in Europe. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
