At least 27 people have been killed after a passenger bus collided head-on with a trailer truck from the opposite direction on the Nairobi-Mombasa road in the Kambu area of Maukeni county. Road accidents remain common in Kenya and frequently result in loss of life and severe injuries. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
Those operating or residing in Kenya are advised to be aware that the standards of road safety across the country are poor. Where overland travel is necessary, it is advisable to consider booking luxury and reputable services or hiring an experienced driver.
