Health authorities in Kenya have issued a warning over a Dengue fever outbreak, after at least 153 cases of the mosquito-borne disease were registered in Mombasa county, with the worst hit areas being in Kisauni and Mvita sub-countries. There have been no reported deaths so far.
Those operating or residing in Mombasa county are advised to be aware of a Dengue fever outbreak. Take measures to prevent against mosquito bites; wear long sleeves and trousers, use insect repellent, spray living and sleeping areas with insecticide and use a mosquito net wherever possible. Ensure you have access to a sufficient supply of clean water, food and medicine for the duration of your stay.
