Kenya: Unidentified Gunmen Open Fire on Bank in El-Wak, Mandera County
Five killed as unidentified militants open fire
Local media reports have indicated that at least five people, including two police officers, have been killed after a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a bank in El-Wak, Mandera county. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although the militant Islamist group al Shabaab are known to operate in the country.
Those operating or residing in Kenya are advised to defer all non-essential travel to regions bordering Somalia, particularly Lamu, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera. For essential travel, notify consular authorities and contract a local security escort.
