At least five people were killed and 15 others wounded, after an unidentified assailant launched a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) at a beach near Mitiga International Airport (MJI/HLLM) in Tripoli on 4 July. Media sources have indicated that the RPG shell originated from clashes between two local warring clans from within the airports perimeter.
It is advisable to defer all non-essential travel to Libya. There are several rival factions battling for control in the country and violent clashes take place on an almost daily basis and personal safety cannot be guaranteed. Those in Libya are advised to take advantage of commercial flights whilst they are still operating.
