Local reports have indicated that police fired tear gas and clashed with demonstrators who marched in Al Hoceima to demand the release of political prisoners who were detained in previous anti-corruption protests. Several protesters were reported injured and traffic on the roads leading into the city was restricted. Further protests of a similar nature are possible in the near-term.
Protests in Morocco often result in violence, with excessive use of force being used by the Moroccan police. Monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities.
