Morocco: Police Detain IS-Linked Militant in Tangier
Islamic State-linked individual arrested in Tangier
Moroccan police have detained one Islamic State (IS) linked individual in Tangier, under suspicion of planning to engage in terror related activities, during a joint raid with a Spanish intelligence team. Further counter-terrorist operations are likely to take place across the country. Further information on the suspected was not immediately available.
Those operating or residing in Morocco are advised to be aware of current threat of Islamic extremism in the country. The arrest of an IS linked individual is indicative of the fact that Islamic extremists operate in the country and intend to conduct attacks. Take particular care when visiting densely populated tourist sites. Report any suspicious activity to the authorities and remain vigilant.
