Netherlands: Hundreds of Flights Cancelled at Schiphol Airport
On 8 January, some 300 flights were cancelled at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport (EHAM/AMS) due to inclement weather. Most of the affected flights were operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The airline reported that runway capacity at the airport is highly restricted due to heavy winds. Adverse weather is expected to continue through 9 January and dozens of flights have already been cancelled. Reconfirm all flight schedules prior to travel and allocate additional time for airport procedures to prevent further delays. Monitor local media for more information concerning the closure.
