At least one security officer has been killed and three others injured, after three suicide bombers detonated their explosives in three separate locations at the University of Maiduguri campus in Borno State, during the evening between 25-26 June. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the suicide attacks, although Boko Haram are known to operate in this region. The university has become one of the major targets of Boko Haram since it came under its first direct attack In January. About four suicide attacks have been executed within and around the university since then.
Those operating or residing in Nigeria are advised to be aware of the high threat of kidnap and to avoid all travel to Borno, where Boko Haram are known to operate. If you do decide to travel, remain on high alert and monitor local media for additional security information.
