Pakistan: US Consulate Warns of Increased Threat of Terror Attack in Lahore
Government buildings, tourist areas, religious sites, and hotels frequented by foreigners are vulnerable to a terror attack
On 10 July, the US Consulate General in Lahore issued a security message advising that they had received indications of an increased threat of a terror attack taking place in Lahore. “According to media reports, government buildings, tourist areas, religious sites, and hotels frequented by foreigners are particularly vulnerable, and may be the targets of a terrorist operation. U.S. citizens are urged to avoid such areas for the immediate future.”
Those operating or residing in Pakistan are advised to maintain a heightened sense of security and to take the appropriate measures to enhance their personal security at all times, due to the serious threat of kidnapping and terrorist violence in the country. Be aware of the potential for both indiscriminate and planned coordinated terror attacks to take place. Take particular care when in proximity to areas populated with westerners.
