Slovakia: Thousands March Against Corruption in Bratislava
5000 march in Bratislava to demand the resignation of government officials over alleged corruption
On 18 April, some 5000 people, many of them students, marched from Bratislava’s Hviezdoslavovo Square to Slovak National Uprising (SNP) Square, to demand the resignation of multiple officials, including the Interior Minister, over corruption allegations. The organisers of the protest have warned the government to expect similar further demonstrations in the near term, unless their demands were met.
Those operating or residing in Bratislava are advised to anticipate further mass protests in the city and in other urban areas. Monitor local media for updates and plan your travel routes to avoid protest locations. Due to the volume of those attending these protests, it is advisable to avoid all large crowds and gatherings of people.
