Hundreds of anti-Zuma protesters have blocked arterial roads across Johannesburg, including in Soweto, Turffontein, Braamfontein and Hillbrow, with burning tyres and rocks, ahead of a no-confidence vote against the President. The vote is expected to take place in Parliament, which is scheduled to begin around 14:00 local time.
Those operating or residing in Johannesburg are advised to anticipate heightened security and related traffic disruptions throughout the day as protests take place. Plot your travel route to bypass the area and allow additional time for travel if this is not possible. Avoid all large gatherings due to the credible threat of protest-related violence. Seek safe shelter if tensions further escalate.
