In the latest bout of protests in South Africa, police reportedly fired rubber bullets into crowds to disperse protesters who had burned tyres on the R557 in Ennerdale, Gauteng province. The demonstrations were the latest in a string against land invasions and evictions.
Those operating or residing in Ennerdale are advised to anticipate heightened security and related traffic disruptions throughout the day as protests may continue. Plot your travel route to bypass the area and allow additional time for travel if this is not possible. Avoid all large gatherings due to the credible threat of protest-related violence. Seek safe shelter if tensions further escalate.
