Japanese authorities are on high alert as Typhoon Noru is expected to impact the Ryukyu islands, Kyushu and southern Honshu. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has been monitoring the passage of Category 2 Typhoon, which is currently tracking east of the coast of Japan and packing sustained winds of up to 170kph. The typhoon is expected to pass through southern Japan before impacting most of the Korean peninsula by 7 August.
Those operating or residing in Japan or South Korea are advised to anticipate continued adverse weather conditions and typhoon-triggered disruptions to air, land and sea travel through to 8 August. Avoid coastal and low-lying areas. Follow all directives issued and maintain a flexible itinerary until the typhoon passes. Flash floods and landslides are possible following heavy rainfall; maintain heightened awareness of surroundings. Passengers flying to and from Japan are advised to confirm all arrangements prior to travel.
