8 Moroccan nationals arrested in counter-terror raids in Barcelona

At least 8 Moroccan nationals have been arrested on suspicion of being involved with terrorist activity, during a series of counter-terror raids conducted at 12 different properties in Barcelona. Belgian police were reportedly also involved in the operation. Specific details have yet to be released. It is not yet known if those arrested were affiliated with Islamic State (IS).

Those who plan to travel to or within Spain are advised to be aware of the latest arrests of suspected terrorists. Whilst the arrests do not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant and to be aware of the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism in Europe.
