Sudan: Further Anti-Government Protests Scheduled Between 11-14 February
The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) and other groups have called for further anti-government protests to take place between 11-14 February, marking the eighth consecutive week of protests calling for President Omar al-Bashir to step down. Marches and sit-ins are scheduled to take place in Khartoum, with nightly demonstrations in urban centres. Clashes between protesters and security forces are possible, with police forces regularly using tear gas to disperse crowds.
Those who wish to travel in Sudan are advised to be aware that security forces are unable to guarantee the safety of travellers across much of the country. Avoid all large gathering and observe local curfews. For essential travel, travel in convoy and with an embassy approved security escort. Proceed with extreme caution.
