Sweden: Suspect Arrested Following Lorry Crash in Stockholm

Vehicle crash not suspected to be terrorism

Recent police reports have indicated that Swedish authorities have arrested an individual in connection with the crashing of a small lorry into the back of a taxi in Stockholm. The assailant continued to drive the lorry before fleeing the scene. Although investigations remain ongoing, there are no immediate indications to suggest the incident was terror related.

Those operating or residing in Sweden are advised to be aware of recent vehicle ramming terror attacks in Europe. Although this incident is not thought to be terror related, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant to the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorist attacks. In particular, there have been calls for increased attacks against Westerners throughout the Ramadan period, which is set to end on 24 June. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities and remain vigilant.
