Togo: GAC Warns of Violent Protests
Avoid planned protests on 6,7 September
On 28 August, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) issued an updated travel advisory for Togo which reads in part as follows: “Political demonstrations occur frequently, especially in Lomé, and can turn violent with little warning. Marches are expected to take place in Lomé on September 6 and 7, 2017. Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities.”
Those operating or residing in Togo are advised to be aware of possible riots and demonstrations. Exercise caution during this time and remain aware of your surroundings. Monitor the local media and news and remain flexible with your travel plans. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities and remain vigilant.
