A spokesman for the Interior Ministry in Tunisia has confirmed that an Islamic State (IS) recruiter and two other suspected IS militants were detained by the National Guard, during a security operation in Tunis. Officials indicated that the recruiter also operated outside of Algeria and was heavily involved in smuggling IS supporters and recruits to Syria.
Those operating or residing in Tunisia are reminded to be aware of the threat of terrorism. Exercise a high degree of caution near government and military buildings and personnel. The arrest of IS linked individuals is indicative of the fact that Islamic extremists operate in the country and intend to conduct attacks. Take particular care when visiting densely populated tourist sites. Report any suspicious activity to the authorities and remain vigilant.
