Turkey: Mass Nationwide Arrests of Suspected Gulenists
803 arrested with arrest warrants issued for a further 197
Turkish authorities have detained at least 803 people, whilst arrest warrants have been issued for a further 197, in a continued mass crackdown targeting Gulenists and anyone with links to Fethullah Gulen, whom the government blames for orchestrating the failed July 2016 coup attempt. Since July 2016, tens of thousands have been arrested and detained in Turkey.
Those operating or residing in Turkey are advised to be aware of the current political climate and of heightened tensions amid a prolonged crackdown. Further purges of the police, judiciary and police are likely to continue. Limit your exposure to military installations and government buildings and refrain from discussing politics in public spaces.
