Turkish authorities react to Australian warning of a possible terror attack on Anzac Day
Turkish officials have reportedly responded to the recent Australian warning concerning a possible attack on Anzac Day and heightened security, doubling the number of security personnel present. However, there are said to be no plans to increase the number of checkpoints and to stop and search vehicles. Turkish officials have notably played down the threat and commented that the Australian warning of a possible vehicle-ramming terrorist attack did not contain any specifics and no hard intelligence.
Those who plan to travel to the Gallipoli Peninsula are advised to be aware of a heightened terrorist threat around Anzac Day on 25 April. Be aware of the current security environment in the country and remain alert when visiting densely populated areas or any tourist destinations. Report any suspicious packages, behaviour or activity to the authorities and remain vigilant.
