United Kingdom: British Airways Cabin Crew Extend Strike, Again

Mixed fleet cabin crew to strike from 2-15 August

Cabin crews who work for British Airways are set to stage a further 14 days of strikes from 2-15 August. Staff members plan to continue their strike for an additional two weeks from 2 August, after a current 14-day walk-out. The additional action means that the British Airways mixed fleet cabin crew will have been on strike for four weeks. The strikes come amid a long-running dispute over pay and benefits. Unite claims the ‘mixed fleet’ are on 'poverty' pay rates, with many forced to take on second jobs and that they will, ‘vigorously' pursue legal action against the airline on behalf of 1,400 cabin crew’, who say they were 'sanctioned' for taking previous strike action. The airline has announced that it will confirm its itineraries in response to the industrial action before the strike begins.

Those who are planning to fly with British Airways are advised to be aware of the planned further strikes from 2-15 August. Reconfirm all flight schedules with booking agents or airline representatives before setting out. Monitor local media for more information concerning any further transport cancellations and follow all directives issued by local authorities.
