United Kingdom: British Airways Cabin Crew Extend Strike

British Airways extend strike for a further 14 days

Cabin crews who work for British Airways are set to stage a further 14 days of strikes, three days after completing a 16-day stoppage, in a long-running dispute over pay and benefits. Members of Unite plan to stage the strikes following a series of industrial action over the past months. Unite claims the ‘mixed fleet’ are on 'poverty' pay rates, with many forced to take on second jobs and that they will, ‘vigorously' pursue legal action against the airline on behalf of 1,400 cabin crew’, who say they were 'sanctioned' for taking previous strike action. The strike action will start on 19 July and will run into August. The airline has announced that it will confirm its itineraries in response to the industrial action before the strike begins.

Those who are planning to fly with British Airways are advised to be aware of the planned strikes between 1 July and 2 August. Reconfirm all flight schedules with booking agents or airline representatives before setting out. Monitor local media for more information concerning any further transport cancellations and follow all directives issued by local authorities.
