United Kingdom: British Airways Cabin Crew to Strike Again

British Airways cabin crew plan another strike from 1 July

Cabin crews who work for British Airways are set to stage a further two weeks of fresh strikes, from 1 July, in a long-running dispute over pay and benefits. Members of Unite plan to stage the strikes following a series of industrial action over the past months. Unite claims the ‘mixed fleet’ are on 'poverty' pay rates, with many forced to take on second jobs. The strikes will take place from 00:01 on 1 July to 23:59 on Sunday 16 July. Unite commented that they will, ‘vigorously' pursue legal action against the airline on behalf of 1,400 cabin crew’, who say they were 'sanctioned' for taking previous strike action. The airline has announced that it will confirm its itineraries in response to the industrial action before the strike begins. There has been a total of 26 days of strike action since the beginning of January.

Those who are planning to fly with British Airways are advised to be aware of the planned strikes between 1-16 July. Reconfirm all flight schedules with booking agents or airline representatives before setting out. Monitor local media for more information concerning any further transport cancellations and follow all directives issued by local authorities.
