A 30-year-old man who arrived at Heathrow Airport on a flight from Turkey has been arrested on suspicion of terror-related crimes. The man was detained by the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terror unit as he stepped off the plane from Istanbul. A spokesman from Scotland Yard said that the man was detained on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts and terrorist training. The suspect remains in custody whilst security officers search a property thought to be linked to the man.
Those operating or residing in the UK are advised to be aware of the threat of terrorism. Whilst the arrest does not pose a direct threat to travellers, they are nonetheless advised to remain aware, alert and vigilant. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
