A 49-year-old man has been arrested at London Southend Airport under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006, on suspicion of preparing to commit acts of terrorism. The suspect was taken to a south London police station, where he remains in police custody. There was no immediate threat to the public.
Those operating or residing within the UK are advised to be aware of the latest arrest of an individual suspected of terror offences. Whilst the arrest does not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant. The current terrorist threat level in Britain is severe, meaning that an attack is highly likely. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
