Following continued nationwide protests and widespread chaos in Venezuela, the country is facing mounting pressure from the Organisation of American States to implement serious reforms and end one of the largest political and economic crises in history. Since the beginning of April, at least 73 people have been killed in a wave of anti-government protests which have paralysed Caracas and other major cities. The current wave of protests and unrest are the most intense and violent that the country has seen since two months of similar protesting in 2014 which left dozens dead.
Those operating or residing in Venezuela, particularly in Caracas, are advised to avoid all large protests and gatherings of people, due to the credible risk of detention and protest-related violence. Seek shelter if tensions begin to escalate. Reroute your plans to avoid travelling within the city in the near term.
