Venezuela: FCO Releases Special Report Following ‘Assassination Attempt’ on President
On 4 August, drones armed with explosives detonated near Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro as he gave a speech to celebrate the National Guard. Maduro was unharmed, but seven soldiers were injured in subsequent chaos. Maduro has since accused opposition parties of working with the Colombian government and U.S. citizens in Florida in an attempt to assassinate him. There are conflicting reports about the actual cause of the explosion, and at least one group has claimed credit for the incident. As of Monday, six suspects, or “materials authors,” of the drone attack have been arrested. The complete report can be viewed HERE.
