The presentation covered the current state of maritime piracy in the Gulf of Guinea and the complexities of hijack and kidnap response.
Steven Harwood, Head of Special Risks, recently gave a breakfast talk at Union Maritime's West Africa networking and information sharing event onboard the HQS Wellington.
The presentation, covering the trends of Nigerian piracy in 2016 and the company’s first-hand experience of hijack and kidnap response, was delivered to ship owners and operators, lawyers, underwriters, brokers, P&I Clubs, flag state representatives and Nigerian Navy staff. The event was a great success with plenty of insight into contemporary maritime issues in West Africa.
