Australia: Bushfire Threatens Residential Area in Perth
Raging bush fire threatens evacuations
A bush fire, which began on 8 February, is spreading in Bedfordale in south-east Perth. The fire has not yet been contained, prompting the authorities to issue an emergency warning for the area, which applies to residents east of the south-western highway, south of Rails Crescent and north of Linton Street North in Bedfordale, Wungong and Byford, in the City of Armadale and the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. Local authorities have advised people in these areas to prepare to evacuate should the fires worsen.
Those operating or residing in Australia are advised to be aware of the string of bush and grass fires unfolding as the country experiences extreme heatwaves. Re-route any travel plans to the above-mentioned areas and remain vigilant. Monitor local media for more advice and follow all directives issued by local authorities until the fires are brought under control.
