Police Arrest IS-Linked Individual in New South Wales

Counter-terrorism police have arrested a 42-year-old man in New South Wales, for allegedly trying to carry out activities linked to supporting the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. The authorities have indicated that the man was carrying out research on laser warning devices and assisting IS efforts to develop a long-range guided missile, for use in Iraq and Syria.

Those operating or residing in Australia are advised to be aware of the latest arrest of a suspected Islamic State member. Whilst the arrest does not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
