Fighting between Azeri troops and Armenian backed separatists has reportedly erupted during the last few days, along the line of control on Nagorno-Karabakh. Media sources have reported that at least five Azeri soldier have been killed in the Khojavend and Fizuli districts. Sporadic violence remains a problem in the region and surges of fighting have occurred several times in recent years. Violent clashes last broke out in April 2016. Further violence should be anticipated.
Those operating or residing in Azerbaijan are advised to avoid all travel to the Nagorno-Karabakh region due to the credible risk of violence. Seek safe shelter if tensions further escalate.
