Bahrain: Avoid Planned Protests on 10 January
Planned protest expected to result in clashes
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued updated travel advice to warn of a planned protest on 10 February. The protests are in response to the recent execution of three men on 15 January and are calling for the release of all political prisoners. Demonstrations and protests take place regularly in Bahrain. Protesting may include attempts to disrupt traffic, to rally outside economic centres, throwing Molotov cocktails and the use of improvised explosive devices.
Those operating or residing in Bahrain are advised to be aware of the planned protests for 10 February. Avoid large gatherings and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any demonstrations, due to the credible risk of violence. Heightened security should be anticipated. Monitor local media for more information concerning the protests and possible road closures and follow all directives issued by local authorities.
