Protesters Violently Clash with Security Forces in Dhaka
At least 50 people have been injured and an undisclosed number arrested, after police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse a crowd of brick-throwing protesters who had attempted to reach the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) in Dhaka. The continued protests are in response to a recent increase in the prices of gas.
Those operating or residing in Dhaka are advised to anticipate heightened security and traffic related disruptions in the city and other urban areas near rally sites. Avoid all large gatherings and protests in Bangladesh due to the credible risk of violence. Leave the area if tensions further escalate.
