Security Forces Clash with Protesters in Dhaka
At least 20 people have been injured, with 12 more arrested, as police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse a crowd of protesters led by the Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Samajtanktrik Dal. The demonstrators had attempted to block roads in central Dhaka during a protest over recent government decisions to significantly raise the prices of gas.
Those operating or residing in Dhaka are advised to anticipate heightened security and traffic related disruptions in the city and other urban areas near rally sites. Avoid all large gatherings and protests in Bangladesh due to the credible risk of violence. Leave the area if tensions further escalate.
