Belarus: March Against Presidential Decree Planned in Minsk on 15 March
Anticipate violent anti-Presidential decree protests
Demonstrators will gather at Minsk’s Academy of Sciences at 17:30 local time on 15 March and march to Bangalore Square, for the latest protest against a Presidential decree imposing taxes on “social patriotism.” Similar protests will take place in Grodno and Mogilev and are likely in other urban areas.
Anticipate disruptions to travel around protest and marching sites on 15 March. Political opposition is likely to be severely repressed and demonstrations may be violently dispersed. As such, it is advisable to avoid all large crowds during this time.
