The Federation of Drivers of La Paz have called for a 24-hour strike in the capital, with union counterparts in El Alto planning to stage a solidarity protest. The protests are against licensing and vehicle registration reforms. At least 11 roadblocks are expected to block main roads in La Paz, as well as on the Autopista La Paz-El Alto. Only the circulation of private vehicles and ambulances will be allowed.
Those operating or residing in La Paz are advised to be aware of the 24-hour transport strike. Anticipate significant delays to travel on 17 May and plan alternative means of transport for the duration of the strike in order to avoid delays to your journey.
