China: Beijing Shrouded by Massive Dust Storm

City of Beijing covered in dust

Shocking before and after images have been published online, showing how the city of Beijing has been completely covered in dust. So far, 48 flights from Beijing Capital International Airport have been cancelled and authorities have urged young children and the elderly to stay inside, in order to avoid health implications.

Those operating or residing in Beijing are advised to be aware of the extremely high levels of dust and air pollution which have smothered the city, resulting in a national red alert being issued. It is advisable to stay indoors and to avoid outdoor travel in the worst affected areas until the conditions improve, due to the credible risk of adverse health implications as a result of the extreme air pollution. Reconfirm all flight schedules before setting out and allocate additional time for airport procedures to prevent further delays. Monitor local media for more information concerning any further cancellations, follow all directives issued and maintain a flexible itinerary until the conditions improve.
